When shopping for maternity clothes some women feel that buying things that are expensive is a waste of money because we are only pregnant for a finite amount of time. However, women who have already had one child know that very few people can fit into their pre-pregnant clothesdirectly after giving birth; when shopping for maternity clothes it is a good idea to find things that will help to transition into pre-pregnancy clothes again. We usually only wear our clothes for a year anyway, so it really isn't a waste of money when you look at it that way. Try looking for styles with empire waists (high waist), or a drop waist dresses and shirts that are made of loose and flowing fabric so the garment allows you room to grow.

Avoid things that are fitted where the material has no stretch because you will most likely be uncomfortable. Soft fabrics like jersey knits and cotton are good because they are likely to fit more naturally and won’t pull on your belly. Prada is famous for their beautiful soft knits so try looking there for some beautiful empire waist knits and cotton looks. Do not mistakenly buy regular clothes in larger sizes because they will fit your growing belly but will be too big and baggy everywhere else. Remember you are pregnant, not bigger or fatter and your arms and legs are not longer.
