All in the Hips

The peplum waist has become rather hot in recent weeks on the red carpet.  The runways for fall were full of dresses synched at the waist and accentuated at the hips with ruffles, pleating and poofing.  The peplum waist or any type of synched waist dress with detailing accentuating the hips is a great design for women who don’t have a super curvy figure.  By accentuating the hips with extra fabric or volume and clinging to your waistline, it makes you appear as though you have a beautifully curvy figure.  Take for example Preen or Tibi’s peplum cocktail dresses that accentuate your true waist and give a slight curvy boost to your hips.  The peplum waist is also a great design for women who are shy about their lower stomach, for it can cover lower belly fat and draw the attention to your true waistline instead.  LV and Erin Fetherston’s synch waist and volumized hips looks are the perfect example of how to draw attention to the right parts of your body: if you have a slender waist but feel uncomfortable with your lower stomach and maybe even your hips, this style is a great solution.
