The German born minimalist designer has a trademark look inspired fans to describe her as Queen of Less, Master of Minimalism, or the fashion Reductionist. She developed the trend of creating coordinates which could easily be mixed and matched and combined together for many different looks. She also developed the onion look, or using many layering various pieces to develop a new modern look. After the glitzy-styles of the 1980s, her look became embraced in the mid to late 1990s. The Prada Group bought a 75% share in the company though Ms. Sander remained the creative designer for a few more years. After a disagreement with the business chairmen of Prada Jil Sander left the company for a few years. The company struggled without Sander and in 2003 she triumphantly re-joined the company; her new collections were more feminine and were an instant hit with customers and critics alike, however, she resigned once again and since 2005 the line has been designed by Raf Simons. In 2008 a Japanese company called Onward purchased Jil Sander from the Prada Group. For a look of elegant minimalism made with the finest fabrics and meticulous tailoring Jil Sander is the style you have been looking for.
