Loewe began producing handbags and cases in Madrid Spain in 1872. As their popularity grew they expanded their range and began producing leather clothing as well. In1905 they were named the "Official Supplier to the Spanish Royal Crown" and the standard of quality for their goods continues to this day. Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessey group took over ownership of the brand as they celebrated their 150th year. Today they are known for their peerless leather goods marked by their distinctly soft leather and craftsmanship, and their innovative clothing lines.

Many big named designers have worked for Loewe, like Karl Lagerfeld, Giorgio Armani, and Narciso Rodriguez all helping to keep Loewe a global player in the luxury goods industry. Now, Stuart Vevers is the artistic director for the fashion house, and he is receiving rave reviews for his collections. He is a self-described "detail fanatic" and it shows in his work. One must only touch his work once to realize that the buttery soft leather is of the highest quality. Loewe continues to evolve as a label, while holding on to the integrity that made them fit for royalty.
