![]() Designer John Galliano is famous for his fantastical interpretation of the world around him with his romantic, sexy and outrageous designs. He has been quoted as stating “my role is to seduce”. He is a visionary with an amazing imagination that literally changed the way we dress. He changed the proportions of women’s clothes; by cutting dresses and jackets on a bias and against the grain of the fabric he created a sexier and more flowing shape. He began designing his own collections and was appointed by head of LVMH (Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy) to be the lead designer for Givenchy and moved to Christian Dior only two years later, a year that coincided with their 50th anniversary.
Awarded British Designer of the Year in 1987, 1994, and 1995, he shared the award in 1997 with his successor at Givenchy, Alexander McQueen. Between his own label and Dior, he produces six collections a year and his new mid-season range under his own name of “G Galliano”. He has cited Charlize Theron and Kylie Minogue both as muses, creating many of their red carpet gowns. Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, and the late Princess Diana were all fans of his fresh approach to fashion. His designs continue to be coveted by fashionable women the world over.
